The Shape of Design by Frank Chimero
This is a short book and it's contents are available for free online.

One thing that impresses me about this book is the odd illustrations. The one on the cover especially grabbed my attention because it seemed to be algorithmically generated.

I decided to use this image as inspiration for my own simple generative design study.

This book doesn’t cover tips and tricks about the craft of creating physical artifacts, instead it focuses on more subtle issues like motivation for creating anything at all and the kind of impact it’s likely to have on oneself and others.

The author’s many thoughtful insights helped me understand that design is an opportunity to show care for others in ways that often transcend commercial obligations. A civilization is largely about the things we create and share. I think that includes relationships and memories.

By the way, for those of you interested, I'm thinking about starting a class about the Processing programing language and it's creative applications. If you're interested, please respond in the "Teach-Learn Requests" forum Smile

All the best!
